I think the choice of topic matters less than the delivery method. I can think of some really big-news items (engagements, births, deaths, severe illness) that should be shared first personally and then carefully.
I don’t suppose daily bowel movements or truly slanderous comments about other people are appropriate, either, but I’m creative enough to think of ways where even those items might be contained within less-obvious statements.
